Occupying the uppermost floor of an apartment building in Jardim Paulistano, one of the principal advantages of this apartment is the wide vistas characteristic of its location – a leafy, predominately residential neighborhood in the west of Sao Paulo. Trading on these views was one of the fundamental concepts behind the renovation program, which aimed generate a feeling of openness, reinforced by increasing natural light, reducing partitions between spaces, employing transparency and using brightly colored materials in the flooring and furniture design.

This environment revolves around a shelving unit in plate steel and translucent glass, dividing living spaces – a wide sitting room and open terrace – from the more intimate areas and serving spaces – an en-suite bedroom, kitchen and laundry. In the center of the kitchen, a cantilevered marble shelf articulates the use of this space.
