Intervention in apartment recently delivered by the construction company. The original plan, extremely problematic, had a balcony area equal to the total useful area and what drew attention to the design party was the view for the Pinheiros River.

We decided to eliminate all existing walls, including between the balcony and the apartment, incorporating all the external area with the apartment. With the removal of linings and finishes, the concrete structure became one of the most present materials in the apartment and in this way it was possible to reach a sufficient height for a new floor.

A new steel structure hung to the concrete beams, allowed the creation of the mezzanine that overlooks the city’s landscape. On one side, kitchen and service area crosswise to the lighting and on the opposite side, the suite. Between these two environments, the living areas. In the mezzanine, we have created a small office that is protected from direct natural lighting, thanks to the existing concrete beam. And finally, a closet for the residents who would like to have more space to store personal belongings.

This new floor also stands out in materiality. It marks the change of materials and the function of each one – the steel, present in the ground floor, serves as a structure to support the lighter elements of upstairs wood. The wood is also present in the mezzanine floor, in this case works both as structure and.

The central pillar, received a steel structure that organizes and sectorizes some possible uses in the living environments. Serves as sofa, bench, table and support for all four corners.
